DURING YOUR VISIT

Talk through the choices.

Discuss the purpose of treatment, possible visits, fees and follow-up before deciding on a plan.

What affects an estimate?

The tooth, canal anatomy, infection, previous treatment, imaging and final restoration can affect the plan. Ask whether a quote is per canal, per tooth or for a complete stage of care.

What is included?

Ask about consultation, imaging, endodontic treatment, any temporary restoration, the final restoration or crown, and follow-up. Other clinics' published prices are not a Smile Philosophy quote.

How many visits will I need?

The number and spacing of appointments vary. Ask about the assessment, treatment and restoration stages, and what could change the schedule. Confirm your appointment before booking travel.

General patient education. An examination is needed for individual advice. For an explanation of the tissues inside a tooth and root canal treatment, see the American Association of Endodontists’ patient guide.

YOUR QUESTIONS, EXPLAINED

Your endodontics questions.

What is endodontics?

Endodontics is the area of dentistry concerned with the soft tissues inside a tooth. Root canal treatment is one type of endodontic treatment.

Does tooth pain always mean I need a root canal?

No. Several dental problems can cause pain. An examination and any appropriate diagnostic records help establish the cause and suitable treatment options.

How much does root canal treatment cost?

The estimate depends on the tooth, its condition, the treatment required and the final restoration. Ask for an individual plan explaining which records, visits, restoration and follow-up are included.
